2008 Season - Week 13

Consecutive Wins

When Tennessee lost to the New York Jets in week 11 it brought to an end an amazing unbeaten run of 24 weeks for Johnnie’s head coach. This year his head coach is Titans boss Jeff Fisher. Last year he traded for New England’s Bill Belicheat on Trading Day 1 before week 5, after his initial head coach Herm Edwards (Kansas City) lost his first 2 games of the season before winning his next 2. So prior to 2 week ago the last time The Binty Bombers head coach lost a game was 16th September 2007, a span of 427 days without a loss. Owners Hall of Fame Congratulations to Mark Bowden whose election into the BUMS Owners Hall of Fame was announced at our Thanksgiving Day gathering. Mark picked up 4 votes, the decider coming after his very amusing Presidential Address. His brother collected 3 votes, Marcus 2 and Dave G & John Botten 1 apiece. Mark still calls himself Champ even though he has won stuff all since 2000. However he won BUMSBowl III in 1998 and followed it by winning the Papas Fritas Trophy in 1999 and defended it in 2000. Scoring Hall of Fame Congratulations to John B who rode a 4 TD performance by Trading Day 2 pick-up DeAngelo Willams to total 53 points and so makes his fourth visit into the Hall. His 53 point week has also moved him to the top of the Conference, 13 points ahead of David Stamp’s French Virgins who are starting to go down…the table. Scoring Hall of Fame Again Chief had a lot to give thanks for on Thanksgiving Day as his TE Jason Witten scored a TD in the second game of the festive triple header, but that was just an appetizer. In the third game his Arizona receiver Larry Johnson scored 2 TDs but was outdone by Chief’s Eagle RB Brian Westbrook who scored 4 TDs. And so by the end of Thanksgiving Day he had 3 players play for a total of 42 points. In the end he scored a personal best 59 points (equal 16th highest all time). It was his 6th visit to the Hall of Fame but his first since 2001. BUMS on Seats. A huge thanks to Cheryl for last weeks Thanksgiving Day Feast. On Sunday we will be back at HQ from 6pm for Sky’s doubleheader, Atlanta @ New Orleans followed by Miami @ Buffalo with Cleveland @ Tennessee and Dallas @ Pittsburgh on the red button. On Monday we will be at Johnny’s for the Sunday Night Game Washington @ Baltimore. All are welcome, just let us know if you are coming.
